Belted Galloways are a Scottish Highland beef breed that evolved at the same time as the Aberdeen Angus breed. Both are great beef animals but “Beltie” beef is naturally lean and tender. Although the beef is lean, it still retains a nice marbling of fat that helps maintain its tenderness and is one reason for its wonderful flavor. Also, scientific tests conducted on tenderness in beef shows that a large percentage of Belted Galloway beef tested high for tenderness. Although Aldermere Farm is mainly known for its breeding stock, Aldermere’s all-natural beef is available for purchase year round out of its main office. Beef is sold in larger amounts such as quarters and eighths, but also in smaller amounts such as a “Family Pack,” which will fit into a refrigerator freezer.
