Coming Attraction

For the past few years, Aldermere Farm staff and volunteers have been conducting interviews, researching historical records, cataloging hundreds of photos, and filming programs and events, all in order to gain a better understanding of the Farm’s rich history and to document current activities. Not only does the Farm have a wonderful past, but since Maine Coast Heritage Trust assumed its ownership and management, the Farm has continued to thrive as a Belted Galloway farm, educational center, and recreational area for the community. With all the video footage and photographs of these activities, Aldermere Farm staff have begun to work with a local film editor to compile it into a short documentary. “There are so many great stories about the Farm from Chatfield family members, farm workers, and friends of the farm, that we knew we had to get them recorded,” states Sarah Post, Program Coordinator. “The documentary will be a vehicle for sharing the stories so that people can understand the real essence of this jewel of a farm.” The documentary will be completed this spring and plans for the film include showings at the Farm’s Visitor’s Center during the summer months, at Aldermere events throughout the year, and possibly on a local access channel.
