Applications being accepted for paid apprenticeship at Aldermere Farm

This summer, Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) is offering a 5-month summer apprenticeship on the Maine coast to focus on raising beef cattle at Aldermere Farm located at 20 Russell Ave in Rockport, ME. Aldermere Farm is nestled in the heart of the Midcoast just outside Rockport Village and is owned and managed by MCHT as a working farm and agricultural education center. The farm operation is well connected with the region’s vibrant local food and farm network. The apprenticeship offers an opportunity to be involved all facets of managing a herd of registered Belted Galloway beef cattle. Previous experience farming and educating youth and/or adults are preferred. In addition to the farm tasks, an apprentice will assist with events and implementing sustainable-agriculture programs for youth. The apprenticeship is a paid opportunity and includes shared housing, training and supervision. This position will be open until filled.
