Sap-to-Syrup Session 1
Mar 3, 2021, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Registration for this session closes February 26, 2021
Cabin fever setting in? Looking for a sweet pick-me-up? During the month of March, Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) invites all ages to try out making maple syrup from scratch (i.e. sap) at Aldermere Farm, 70 Russell Ave in Rockport. Individuals or groups may sign up to assist with the collecting sap on Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-4:30 PM.
Individuals who are looking for a more in-depth, hands-on experience, and don’t mind a little heavy lifting, may sign up to volunteer to assist where needed (hauling buckets of sap, tending the evaporator, boiling and finishing the syrup, etc.).
In keeping with health officials’ recommendations, face masks are required, and space is limited so appropriate social distancing can be maintained. Participants must dress for being outside for an extended period in the cold. There are no public restrooms at the farm.
Sap flow is weather dependent. Early registration is recommended. Registration for the first session on March 1st is open until February 26th and is available here.
This program is free for every participant thanks to generous support from donors.
