“Where I Live” – CRMS 5th Grade Class Art Show

This place-based project invited Camden-Rockport 5th grade students to reflect on their relationship with nature and the importance of caring for the land. Fifth grade paintings were inspired by the digital art techniques of artist James Eric Francis, Panawahpskek (Penobscot). In art class, students took an image of their special place and mounted it on hard panel. Students then focused on color mixing, tints, tones, shades and brush technique to create their artwork. As a finishing touch, students had the option of adding dots to their work reminiscent of the dots found in artwork throughout history and in James’ artwork.
