Advanced Session of Farm Hands Program

Aug 5, 2024 - Aug 14, 2024, 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, at Aldermere Farm

MCHT Herd Manager, Robbie McLintock, teaches a Farm Hands participant how to halter a heifer. PC: Heidi Baker

This summer, youth ages 10 to 18 are invited to the farm to get up close and personal with the Belted Galloway calves. Aldermere Farm will host Farm Hands, a free, hands-on program for youth to practice haltering, grooming, and leading young calves. Participants will learn about agriculture and best practices for handling livestock while providing an important community service to the farm by helping train calves, so they are easier to manage when they’re full-grown.

Two sessions will be offered this summer:

  • Beginners Session for new participants only – July 15 to July 24; 3:30-5:00pm M/T/W
  • Advanced Session for returning participants only – August 5 to August 14; 3:30-5:00pm M/T/W

Generous support from donors makes this educational program free for every participant.

Register here before July 1.
