Harvest Fest at Midcoast Farmers Union Site
Oct 28, 2023, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, at Midcoast Farmers Union Site
The Midcoast Farmers Alliance is hosting a Harvest Fest at the Midcoast Farmers Union Site on October 28th from 2-5pm. Community members and farmers are all invited to join in on the festivities. The event is free and open to the public and will take place at the Midcoast Farmers Site located at 61 Common Road in Union.
The Harvest Fest will feature a farmer’s market, where visitors can buy fresh vegetables, herbs, flowers, plants, baked goods, and more. There will also be live music by local musicians, a cider press where people can make their own apple cider, lawn games such as cornhole and ladder golf, and other fun activities for all ages.
Harvest Fest will be a celebration of both the end of the growing season and of a successful first season of the Midcoast Farmers Alliance using the Union Site.
“We are excited to host this event to celebrate the end of the growing season and to showcase the amazing local farmers in our community,” said Aaron Englander, Director of Aldermere Farm and host of the event. “We hope community members and farmers alike will come out and enjoy an afternoon of fun and festivities.”
Maine Coast Heritage Trust and Maine Farmland Trust are collaborating so Midcoast farmers can use the Midcoast Farmers Site in Union for farmer’s markets and storage for the 2023 season. Midcoast Farmers Alliance (MFA) is a program within Maine Coast Heritage Trust whose goal is to build a support network of area farmers by connecting them to resources and to one another. The establishment of the Midcoast Farmers Union Site is supported by Maine Farmland Trust, who purchased the property in 2022 and plan to facilitate its resale to the MFA as the Midcoast Farmers Union Site grows.
We hope to celebrate the end of the growing season with you on the 28th!
